Sometimes a person just wants a slab of meat, some canned veggies, and a couple slices of Wonder Bread for that rib-sticking, beer-downing kinda meal. That's why there's Hofbrau. Part grimy bar, part dining hall, Hofbrau offers constant sports on its TVs, faux-Tiffany lamps dangling above from 22-foot ceilings, winding plastic vines on its walls, and cafeteria-style grub. Meals here are light on the wallet and heavy on the tummy. Entrées run between four and seven dollars and will get you a hot meat dish, a couple of standard sides like mashed potatoes or steamed cabbage, and two slices of white bread -- all topped with gravy.
