Montclair Soaps

Folks with allergies to soaps and lotions are often out of luck when looking for great-smelling soaps that don’t cause them to immediately break out in a rash. Oaklander Kim Emanuel’s love of allergy-free soaps originated from a desire to help his own allergic wife. In true revolutionary style, Emanuel saw a need in the market and used his existing skill set to fill the gap, creating an exotic line of lotions, soaps, and creams. Using his extensive background in engineering, he dove into his home garage lab to concoct an alternative to the bland scent-free soaps most allergy sufferers encounter, combining fruit and nut oils and essences to create the perfect bar. The impulse is to order a year’s supply so that one never runs out the soft feel of these subtly scented bars (lime-cedar, tangerine, jasmine) sliding across the skin in a rich lather. All soaps are made in Emanuel’s West Oakland warehouse and retail online and in Bay Area spas, shops, and at the Grand Lake farmers’ market.
