Don’t let the wedding dress in the window of this Gourmet Ghetto jewelry boutique fool you — inside you’ll find more than just wedding rings. The homey shop near Chez Panisse features a range of beads and baubles that range from not-so-pricey Indian silver to a $30,000 diamond necklace. It also happens to stock loads of gorgeous engagement and wedding rings, in both antique and modern flavors. Much of the store’s jewelry is designed by the owner, Margo Lowe, or her associates, and crafted on site. Other pieces are custom-made for Lowe “all over,” as she says — in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and India, for example. Even the most modern pieces in the shop have an antique feel, and all score high on the fashion barometer. Lowe also makes custom jewelry based on client specifications.
