Aquarium Age

For the week of July 9-15, 2008.

Navigating the seas of conscious living requires special skill this week. Willful winds inform conscious and unconscious intentions, personal as well as collective, and as those purposes encounter opposition even the most determined or most patient among us are likely to melt down with frustration. But that's just one piece of the puzzle. Emotional crosscurrents of surprisingly equal strength also interfere with the smooth execution of even the most detailed agendas, disturbing the equilibrium of those who thrive on consistency and, again, provoking meltdowns. Actually, the flow of feelings may be so intense the normally mild-mannered are going to find it hard not to act and react in the drama of the moment. And that spontaneity challenges the ability to maintain an even keel. Some of us will take to our beds or self-medicate through drugs or alcohol. Others will simply try to deny the stress and strain of turbulence. But lots of us will figure out how to set our internal compasses on patient, and then do our best to hold steady on a course of kindness and understanding.

The source of this week's headstrong wind is the Mars/Saturn conjunction, which is exact and separating on July 10. For the last week, this difficult configuration has been turning egos edgy and tempers testy, as many of us have pushed others or ourselves for precision and perfection. The not-so-good news is that as this conjunction separates and the tension releases, many of us are likely to experience vacillations between being in and out of control. Please don't let the need to feel in charge motivate you to kick the dog, yell at the cat, or punish a child, spouse, or friend just because you can. The good news is that as the impact of this conjunction decreases so will striving for the unattainable. Remember, it's the process not the product that grows the soul.

The emotional currents of the week draw their strength from several sources. First, a Sun/Uranus trine between the Sun, in Cancer, and Uranus, in Pisces, amplifies the need to be f-r-e-e. The Fourth of July may be over, but this trine just keeps declaring independence and enumerating individual rights. Revolution is good, but do your best to avoid allowing this spirited signature to coalesce with the hard brutality of the Mars/Saturn conjunction. Second, as the Moon travels through the week, it squares the Sun, trines the Sun, and then conjuncts Pluto, all of which contribute to the already agitated atmosphere. And since the Moon symbolizes the feeling body, as she interacts with the Sun and Uranus, intense mood swings are probable.

This week, become an antidote for negativity. Instead of agreeing with everyone about how dreadful the state of the world is, focus on what's happening that's positive. If someone complains, listen politely and then ask, "So what are you doing about that situation?"

If you know your Ascendant and/or your Moon Sign, read that, too.

Aries March 21-April l9

Home improvement, inside and out, is the major theme. Spend time thinking about how you can feather your nest, internally through meditation or externally through home decorating. Either way, the goal is to create greater comfort.

Taurus April 20-May 20

Simply blurting out your version of the "truth" may not be the best choice, but holding back could also produce a negative result. The compromise would be to figure out how to share your opinion with intensity, as well as compassion.

Gemini May 21-June 21

Rather than engage in confrontation just because you're bored, refuse to participate in any encounters unless the stakes are meaningful. If you can stick to that discipline, you will continue to conserve your energy and strength.

Cancer June 22-July 22

Certain conversations could become uncomfortable, especially if the discussion focuses on the private information of others. Rather than participate in gossip, just say "no" and withdraw as gracefully as possible.

Leo July 23-August 22

Rather than make money the issue and use financial data as a way of measuring your success, continue to pursue your passion. I'm not suggesting money doesn't matter, but right now joy is more important.

Virgo August 23-September 22

Keep it light and you'll keep it real. I know that might sound silly, but if you can move through the overwhelming maze of demands without getting snagged by a bad attitude, you'll emerge intact and victorious.

Libra September 23-October 22

Avoiding extreme emotional waves requires objectivity and clarity, so be precise and intentional about each situation you encounter. While it won't be easy maintaining a neutral stance, it also won't be impossible.

Scorpio October 23-November 21

I've said it before and I will say it again: whatever you focus your attention on becomes your reality. Embrace gratitude, see it everywhere, and your life will reflect that perspective.

Sagittarius November 22-December 21

Poetic exchanges with significant others, friend or lovers, starts you musing about all sorts of possibilities. Not every idea will be worthy of exploration, but some will. Pay attention and you'll discover new territory.

Capricorn December 22-January 19

Try not to let a minor disappointment morph into a crisis of faith. Remember, while we can wish for a specific outcome we are only co-creators. Sometimes we have to allow for a more expansive process.

Aquarius January 20-February 18

This week is also all about intention. So rather than allow anxiety about money to corrupt your attitude, spend as much time as possible working on a creative way to earn more money.

Pisces February 19-March 20

Unexpected plot twists could disturb your equilibrium, but only if you're clinging to an old routine and won't let go. If, however, you can be flexible, you'll maintain your balance and get the job done.
