Adam David Miller

When: Thu., Jan. 3, 7 p.m. 2008
Price: free

As described in Adam David Miller's memoir, Ticket to Exile, the Depression-era South was a veritable ragout of racism and sexual exploitation. Asked to sell himself, and accused of rape for simply passing a white woman a note about wanting to get to know her better, the National Endowment for the Humanities fellow eventually escaped and settled in Berkeley. Accompanied by cellist Gael Alcock, Miller reads from the impassioned and explicit book at the Albany Library (1247 Marin Ave., Albany) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3. ACLibrary.org
