.Accessible Opera at Uptown Nightclub

The S.F. Opera Lab is popping up in Oakland on March 23, taking the stage at the Uptown Nightclub. S.F. Opera Lab, the innovative programming branch of the San Francisco Opera, is promising an interactive night of “operative fun and mischief.” Thursday’s show will be the first S.F. Opera Lab event to be held outside of San Francisco, and it will be curated and hosted by stage director and current San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow Aria Umezawa. Performing on stage are other program fellows including sopranos Sarah Cambidge and Amina Edris; tenors Amitai Pati and Kyle van Schoonhoven; baritone Andrew G. Manea; bass-baritone Brad Walker; bass Anthony Reed; and pianists Jennifer Szeto and Ronny Michael Greenberg. For East Bay residents who are reluctant to pay the usual opera ticket prices and make the journey to San Francisco, this promises to be a great alternative and it even includes dancing with a live DJ after the performance!

Thursday March 23, 7:30pm, $25, 21 and over, 1928 Telegraph Ave., Oakland, sfoperalab.com.
