That's a clear implication that Chanin, Burris, and Warshaw are involved in corruption.

The case you cite appears to be different from the Make Oakland Better Now argument in several ways:

1. The American Nurse's Association intervened in the settlement "almost immediately" after it was finalized, as the appellate court noted.

It remains to seen whether the federal courts agree with that assertion -- especially in a case that's already been adjudicated.

Don't forget: Make Oakland Better Now is proposing to intervene in a case that settled nine years ago. What's left of the case is the process to ensure that the settlement is carried out.

As the above post points out, Oakland citizens already have the legal right to request changes to the NSA. But in a representative democracy, that right of citizens is held by their elected leaders -- who definitely are a part of the NSA process.

The problem with Make Oakland Better Now's plan is that it assumes too much.
