Re: “Oakland Officials Describe Vandalism After Anti-Donald Trump Rally As Some Of Worst They've Seen

A citizen's Right of peaceful protest is in the Constitution. There is no Right to break the windows of businesses, start fires, write grafitti on sidewalks and buildings, to encourage confrontation and block Freeways.

We have worked so hard to make Oakland a great place to live and work. It is starting to blossom. Art gallaries, restaurants, new businesses, jobs and more to come. Supposedly youre protesting Donald Trump. He does not live in Oakland. Most residents do not support these violent protests. Please, respect your city, our city and the people who live here. C.Burd

Re: “OUSD Aims to Put Its Money Where Its Values Are

Looking at the picture accompaning this article. Food is all one bland color, everything looks fried, no salad. Is this what they are serving at Oakland High?? Who plans the menus? What is their background?? That is the person we should know about. Sounds like too many government, business and union folks involved.

Re: “News Media Ignores Black Protests

Protesters are in the news, have the public's attention. How about some productive suggestions on what's next. Sit downs with members of city government to discuss the issues? Citizen boards from different neighborhoods working together? What can be done on both sides to implement positive change.

Re: “What a Waste

People want to do the right thing but we haven't provided feasable options. Suggest sitting down with residents of inpacted areas and working out a program for local large item trash disposal. Perhaps no charge large bins in a designated area with pickup once a week. For those that can't get their items to the bins (no car, etc.) a small fee to call for a pick-up. There are many ways this can be solved. Shame on City Council Members who aren't sitting down with their constituents and figuring out a practical solution.
