Re: “Oakland, Richmond, Berkeley Leaders Vow to Protect Immigrants Against Trump Administration

Our infrastructure is already crumbling due to lack of funds by the Feds. I don't think it's going to make that much of a difference. I'm all for sanctuary cities. It's the only way to fight back against the horror that the Trump administration is.

Re: “Vote McLaughlin, Beckles, Myrick, and Eduardo Martinez for Richmond City Council

Jim Rogers is bad news. He was going to be disbarred by the California Bar for unscrupulous law practices, but quit before he was disbarred. See your own EBX article here: http://www.eastbayexpress.com/oakland/sett…
How the hell did he get on the Richmond City Council? Who would hire him knowing was going to be disbarred? Why should the voters of Richmond hire him? BTW, he is not an independent. He is now on the Chevron bandwagon, and is also being supported by the National Realtors Association. He also voted for the casino at Pt. Molate, voting "yes" with Nat Bates after the voters of Richmond sent out a resounding "no". Do not vote for Jim Rogers!

Re: “Chevron Bids to Retake Richmond

Ramsey fails to mention that the budget deficit is due to Chevron's fire and explosion of August 2012, lowering their property value and therefore less tax money for Richmond and the county.

Re: “Richmond Mayor to Tour Ecuadorian Region Devastated by Chevron

This is fantastic. Please stand corrected regarding Chevron as Richmond's biggest employer. That part is true, but also verify by stating that only six to ten percent of Chevron's employees at the Richmond refinery live in Richmond. Out of 1200 employees that's only 72 to 120 that are Richmond residents.

Re: “Best Politician Against All Odds

Whoa! Mr. Gosney, two thousand jobs left Richmond? What are you referring to? The empty promises by Jim Levine for jobs at a rotten casino? One third of the electorate voted for her, really? I guess you could say that about most council members elected to the city council couldn't you, even Nat Bates.

Mayor McLaughlin never took money from the card clubs. She did not solicit money from them. But what about Corky Booze? He got support from the card clubs for his campaign in the form of campaign dollars.

Mayor McLaughlin is the best thing that has ever happened to Richmond. You don't understand worker-owned businesses (I happen to work in one), only huge mega corporations that take local money, but farm it out of the locality. I know you support Chevron. How many jobs does Chevron provide to Richmond residents? I believe out of 1200 jobs at the Richmond refinery, only six to ten percent of those employees live in Richmond.

Richmond is doing the best it's ever done. If anyone has driven jobs out of Richmond, it's Chevron because people are afraid the refinery may blow, and with good reason. The fire last year sent up more than smoke signals, and it reduced our property values.

And, the meetings are not efficient because of one particular city council member, that being Corky Booze, not Mayor McLaughlin, and it's done on purpose to make her look bad.
