On the SF Symphony strike:
"Symphony officials said today that their most recent proposal included a new minimum annual salary of $145,979"
which is quite a bit higher than the average $100,000 tech salary the author mentions. I support the Symphony and its musicians, and I have no opinion about their dispute; just pointing out that these musicians are hardly starving.
I find the comments on results-oriented charitable giving vs donating to "institutions" baffling. Is it really better to donate based on warm fuzzy feelings rather than to what works?
