Re: “Will Oakland Arts Organizations Find A Home at the Rehabilitated Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center?

I remember as a child and young adult attending Oakland Symphony concerts in the Calvin Simmons Theater. The acoustics and sight lines are the finest in the Bay Area. I hope other Oakland Council members will support Rebecca Kaplan and that this wonderful venue can be brought back to life.

Re: “More than 10,000 activists threaten to protest Donald Trump's Bay Area appearance on Friday

Don't make fools out of yourselves, folks. Donald loves this kind of scene and will use it to his advantage. He is entitled to free speech even if most of us don't like to hear his blather.

Re: “Five Tips for Buying Marijuana-Infused Food

Great article. This senior citizen, who has been considering edible marijuana for sleep issues, feels much more knowledgeable. Oddly enough, I was talking to my daughter today (she takes m.m. for M.S. symptoms) and she was unable to answer any of my questions regarding potency and safety-related issues. I will pass this article on to her.

Re: “Appeals Court Orders Drakes Bay Oyster Company to Close

Hey Howard (above): ever heard of Hog Island oysters? They are farmed sustainably in Tomales Bay and taste much better than those rubbery things from Drake's Bay.

Re: “UPDATED: BREAKING NEWS: US Secretary Salazar Decides that Drakes Bay Oyster Company Should Close

Thank you, East Bay Express, for your continued excellent reporting on environmental issues. Message to Dianne: Have you kayaked in the Estero (when it is legally permitted) as I have? Then you would have noticed the mesh bags of oysters increasing exponentially over the years and the increase of gasoline-powered boats to service them. Perhaps if DBOC hadn't expanded their operation so egregiously they might have been in a better position to argue their case. DiFi has a lovely home in Seadrift on Bolinas Lagoon that never would have been built under today's regulations. Lucky her. I remember when my grandparents dug for clams in Bolinas before those multi-million dollar homes were built. Couldn't do that now. Thank you Ken Salazar for letting the rest of us (and the marine and avian life) have our sanctuary at Drake's Estero.
