Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts
This looks like it is falling flat on its face, but the fact that they are okay with extremely deceptive mailers makes me sad for the low regard for democracy that companies have.
If you want to address homeless issues with force, I'd suggest that you are a much worse neighbor than the homeless people you point the finger at. If you can't even engage homeless people with compassion and mercy I really hope you get the heck out of Oakland. We have the wealth in Oakland to do something productive and progressive for these people. We should stop passing the buck and give them housing, health care, and work.
It would be nice if instead we had an app to call for people who need assistance. Food, medical help, psychiatric care, a home, a shower. Why is the only way to seek assistance to call the cops who seem much more likely to make someone's life worse than make it better?
19 games left and the A's have a really, really tough stretch ahead. Around now a lot of these rookies who have played all year should start to hit the wall. Yet they have done so well since June 1 that they have a tremendous amount of confidence as a team.
The only downside I see is that, with Beane and the A's making a run on cheap pitchers, perhaps soon others will follow suit and their price will go up, never to come back down again (enough for the A's to afford them).
