Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts
I can't tell on my screen if this article is marked "opinion" but I'm sure readers can tell that it is more opinion than fact. I suggest you folks listen to the Morning Mix for a couple of weeks and make up your own mind -- 8-9 am weekdays. 94.1 fm.
Beware of those who quote unreliable Arbitron figures for community radio audiences. State Attorney General Kamala Harris recently announced a settlement of California's own lawsuit against Arbitron, following suits filed by the Attorneys General of New York, New Jersey, Florida and Maryland, finding the Arbitron PPM system as patently discriminatory to Black, Latino and minority broadcasters, audiences and advertisers. The numbers were never designed to measure KPFA’s audience and they don’t.
Unfortunately, KPFA is divided by an enormous turf war. That’s is the cause of any audience loss. Rachel Swan's article seems intended to inflame that war. It's unfortunate the East Bay Express chose to publish it.
