Re: “Why Gentrification Is Not Inevitable

In order to improve people's health who live in our neighborhoods we need to offer resources to help improve the condition of existing housing. The majority of our housing is old and has lead hazards, asthma triggers, mold, pest and rodent infestations. That's a real public health problem. Re: “How Safe Is Your Soil?

Clarification: The Alameda County Lead Poisoning Prevention Program offers an in-home consultation and garden soil lead test kit to owners of pre-1978 residential properties in the cities of Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville and Oakland. Owners of rental properties built before pre-1978 in these 4 cities may also apply for lead hazard control financial and technical assistance if the tenants are low-income. These funds are currently limited and you may be put on a waiting list. For more information please visit www.aclppp.org
