Re: “Spicing Up Sexy Storytelling

I am not surprised by the prudish review by Rachel Swan about a night of kinky storytelling. I have read more than one review and several articles published in various venues by Rachel. I learned much more about her viewpoint on sex, especially alternative sex, than I did about her viewpoint on storytelling in the east bay or Bawdy Storytelling.

Rachel is correct in saying Bawdy Storytelling has matured over the years due to curatorship. Is this show for everyone? No. It is also true that just because you really liked one Bawdy that not all of the themes are going to work for you (the kinky them obviously didn't work for Rachel Swan). What is wonderful about Bawdy Storytelling is that it varies its themes across the real spectrum of human sexuality in a genuine manner. I find that exciting. I enjoy expanding my perspective. If you enjoy hearing about real people talking honestly — and often hilariously — about sex then Bawdy Storytelling makes for a great night. I sincerely think the unseasoned Rachel Swan was the wrong reviewer for this kind of show.
