Re: “The Climate Takes a Hit

As Mr. Moore states, measure T was complex. However, the more people knew about it, the more they tended to vote against it. It is quite disingenuous that Mr. Moore, along with other council members and the Mayor, insist that Aquatic Park was not included in Measure T. I was at the Council meeting where they voted "NOT TO "SEVER" the sites on Aquatic Park from measure T. They only voted to have the Planning Commission look at possible protections. This in itself was a blatant political move to silence the environmental groups, since the Council had already rejected all protections proposed by The Sierra Club, The Audubon Society and Citizens for Eastshore Parks. Aquatic Park was absolutely included in Measure T.
Mr. Moore's council victory is purely a triumph of machine politics and outside cash. The California Real Estate Independent Expenditure Committee, based in Los Angeles, promoted Moore to the tune of nearly $20,000. Being an incumbent with 2 glossy mailers and on-line ads, no one else had a fair chance. Given the sources of Moore's support, it is easy to see where his allegiance lies.
