Re: “City of Oakland Shuts Down Novella Carpenter's Urban Farmstand

lawngun, I am suggesting that you should have the right to do whatever you want as long as you do not trespass on anothers rights, including buying from whomever you want, whatever you want. What is interesting is how you put words in my mouth that I did not say. Read it again.

lawngun, If you think that you can actually effect change in the laws, as an individual, the way you have posted without bankrupting yourself in the process and spending time to do this away from scraping by to subsist in our society like most do then I would certainly like to offer to sell you some "ocean front property in Arizona" because you have your head in a hole in the ground. You should be an easy sell. It is more about the right of the rest of us being able to choose what we want to buy than telling someone else what they can sell and giving us that option and us educating ourselves to the point that we would be able to make the right choices. This may be beyond your comprehension but this is true freedom. Maybe it is something that you do not want, but I do.

Re: “City of Oakland Shuts Down Novella Carpenter's Urban Farmstand

So many get upset because someone such as this lady might not follow laws that are "supposedly" for protecting the rest of us. Have you really ever been to the mass slaughter houses that are regulated under the laws? Are you so sure that you are getting quality food because some lawmaker passed a law and says it is so? Are you so determined to take all responsibility away from individuals and give it to some government entity that could give a flying **** about your real health? So many are willing to give up their individual responsibility for making their own decisions for what they purchase because they are also too lazy to search and find out for themselves what is best for them. As for me and I believe still a few out there, we do have a brain cell or two left so we should have the right to decide if we want to buy from the mega industries or from an individual selling the same product but "maybe" better for us. Ultimately this lady would not sell anything unless someone else chose to buy what she had. So what you that want to come down on this lady (and I do not know her at all) are just saying you have the right to tell me and everyone else what we can do, not just her. Yes, I know these may be existing laws on the books, but hey, we need to start to reclaim ourselves at some point or we are all doomed. Also, I was raised on a farm and I would much rather deal with smaller than bigger when it comes to the food I eat.
