Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts
Thank you for your reporting and your snarky writing, when such was not just appropriate, but required. Telling truth to and about power i.e. our senior Senator; the rot at the Coastal Commission and private profiteers in our national park are but a few examples. You published stories that other so-called news organizations turned a blind eye to or dumbed down for click bait. So, thanks, Bob. Long may you run. I've set up a Google Alert in your name and look forward to your ongoing outstanding reportage. With deep bows. Susan Ives
Thousands of activists worked for more than a decade to establish the Pt Reyes National Seashore and now we can finally reclaim it. The oyster "farm" is in fact, subsidized industrial aquaculture that's made millions at taxpayer expense. America's remaining wild places belong to all of us but the frackers, drillers, developers, and profiteers are staking their claims--abetted by lobbyists, politicians, and their invisible donors. This is a victory for not only this national park but for wild public lands nationwide.
This is an amazing exhibit. Some of the pieces were loaned by private collectors, but the majority of the works had been languishing in storage at the SFMOMA, DeYoung, and Legion of Honor--unseen by the public for decades.
This collection is testimony to what's possible when government invests not only in shovel ready projects, but in jobs dedicated to art, music, crafts, and culture.
