This is such a talented group of lady artists and craftspeople -- the opening was awesome. See work by Femily/Emily Morrow, Amanda Padilla, Jessica Hess, El Rod, Denise Lavergne, Kimlynh E.Chun, Tessa, Ashrose, Paula Wirth, Alx Bacca, Sylvia La, Paloma Modupe, Charlotte Drury, Joy Wu. Liu, Misty Ávila Ovalles and Stephanie Gene Morgan.
For eating alone, I also recommend Grand Lake Kitchen, 576 Grand Ave, Oakland, as well as B-Dama, 4301 Piedmont Ave, and Portal, 1611 2nd Ave, Oakland, CA.
Takoyaki Yum is indeed tasty and lovely to behold -- take a look at it being prepared, and the final product -- http://eatdrinkoakland.tumblr.com/tagged/t… (Photos by Paula Wirth)
I think they are waiting until the roof caves in, and they can claim it can't be restored, so they can build condos there... however, that would be a pretty poor location for condos. Miss having a working Parkway in my neighborhood. And I'm tired of people who buy historic landmarks, thinking they will make big bucks off them, only to let them rot, unused and forgotten.
I actually think the best way to do this is to have two Twitter accounts, one that is your official sounding board (@NAME), the other that is the one you use to reply to twitter comments, and be more conversational (@NAMEtweets). Then people who really want to know everything you have to say can follow the second account if they want, and most people will follow the main account. Works very well. I go to these places, because instead of serving beers only good for getting you drunk (like, gag, Budweiser or Pabst), they serve beers of high quality, in the full range of types, that taste exceptional. Something for everyone, from Belgian brews to local microbrews and craft beers. Who says that only wine lovers can care about their drinks? Beer Revolution and the Trappist both have a wide, changing selection that lets you determine your taste in beers, and work to broaden and refine it. I put together an Oakland walking beer trip on Gowalla, including these Oakland finds -- http://gowalla.com/trips/21350 I'll see you there!
