Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts
Tizzielish, i don't understand your coy allusions. Michael Salkin is Jacqelyn's husband of many years, as stated on her website http://www.mccormick2010citycouncil.org/ab…. Nothing is being hidden here.
Interesting, Robert, I wasn't aware of that, but it doesn't change anything i said. Let's stay at 6 floors, which is less than 85', and will give high-density housing without "Manhattanizing" the City.
This article badly disappointed me. I have always considered that the EB Express gave a balanced, factual description of the issues. This article might as well have been a press handout from the property developers supporting Measure R. How on earth the Sierra Club was conned into supporting it is beyond me. Of course high-density housing around transit hubs is green and good. Just like they do in Europe. But 180' tower buildings? Give me a break. Berkeley isn't Manhattan, and we don't want it to be. Six-floor housing is quite high density enough. And please don't tell me that a developer can't make a profit from a six-floor building. They do just fine with lower height limits elsewhere.
