"3 percent of all electricity use and 8 percent of household use, he said." BS, residential electricity demand is 20% of the total demand for the US. How can it be 8% of 20% and come out to 3% total, more like 1.6%
How much CO2 does marijuana plants remove from the air- people only smoke a very small portion of it, and to grow an ounce costs no more then $5 dollars worth of electricity. An ounce is usually enough to satisfy medical needs for half a month- how much energy does half a month worth of pharmaceuticals cost to be grown/harvested/refined/processed/shipped?
Recreational use is killing the planet I suppose then? Well dont bother bringing up brewing alcohol. Oh people can go outside and do something right? Fat chance, not of people going out (but that is hard enough) but even a basketball court will require more energy, a bike, fancy sneakers- all the stuff we need for our recreation requires energy and do not pretend it does not. Asphalt, concrete, outdoor lighting, vehicles- EVERYTHING; and none of it lasts forever... Even taking a barefoot walk in the woods takes a toll on energy use.
Dangerous minutia, sure it would be better to grow outdoors but that is not happening anytime soon with all the rhetoric around the plant and the extremely high price- a near 4000% markup (for growing indoors) totally prevents that in a vicious circle. Lets just add more things to fear about marijuana when looking at it, in a very limited perspective.
Who cares what the drug czar says about marijuana? You know exactly what he is going to say- there is nothing political about that. He would be fired if he let one word out that in any way was positive about marijuana.

Dr. Drew is a dolt who preaches the words of the AMA who also gets their information from the ONDCP, which is completely useless- his expertise is talking about teens with questions about masterbation. Drug treatment my ass- why do people pay tens of thousands of dollars for rehabs with less then 30% success rates? They do not know the cause of the problem- the only manage the symptoms...
