Re: “A New Police Department in Oakland

Great injustice
IT WOULD be the greatest injustice if, as is being reported in the Tribune, two of the police officers attempting to apprehend the killer of four police officers March 21 were to be demoted in rank because, supposedly, protocol was not followed.
Tell me, where was top cop acting Chief Howard Jordan when this disaster was going down? Not an inch of space or an ounce of ink spent to inform the public of his actions during his department's greatest hour of need. He should have been on the scene immediately, and it should have been his call as to how to proceed in the apprehension of the killer.
Jordan ordered and outside investigation, which apparently cleared him of any responsibility, since we are not reading of any criticism of his leadership.
The killer took the lives of four police officers, destroyed four families and, so far, the careers of at least three police officers — not to mention the morale of the entire police department.
As is typical of the officials who run this city, we continue with one screw up after another. What we need is a hero's day for the entire police department, not a scapegoat hunt.

Re: “Batts Demotes Two Commanders of Botched Raid

get your story straight!!!!!! Most of ALL the top commanders of OPD on that traggic day were hiding at the "hospital" with the families. You can't throw ALL the blaim on Orozco & Mufarreh when they were just doing their job!!!!!!!

You can't blame them when they are working under "cowards" ie acting cheif Howard Jordan & Capt. Ed Tracey... Where were they?????????????
