Re: “Legal Battle Over Coal in Oakland Is Heating Up

And awful that our limited city budget is going to pay for expensive lawyers in service to an unconscionable environmental offense. I will not support Barbara Parker again.

Re: “Supporting Historical, Black-Owned Businesses

Love Marcus Books. But what about Urban Stitch (Broadway and 17th St.)? How about BettiOno gallery? And
Nenna Joiner's store, Feelmore? Pietisserie, among many food purveyors?

Re: “‘Journeymen’ Chefs Pop Up in Temescal, Plot Oakland Restaurant

"shallot-like daylily bulbs foraged from around Lake Merritt"--from our public park? So does this mean "cheerfully and illegally harvesting from taxpayer-funded public improvements?" Not to mention the sanitation issues. . .

Re: “Oakland Planning Commission Tables Secondary Units Plan and Hits Pause on Controversial New Rules

To clarify, the most urgent provision of the many proposed changes, amending transitional and supportive housing regulations (to be more streamlined), passed with general support. Most of the other objections were not at all related to Mr. Rees's complaints about rich people, but instead dealt with impacts upon flatlands communities, the ability of these dense and not-so-well-off communities to weigh in on large incoming projects, and to obtain community benefits. The Chinatown Coalition sent in a clear and measured letter which is worth reading.

"Runs a consulting firm" and presumably represents the interests of developers. Doug Boxer is no dummy and is an honorable person but he was insufferable last night, and should perhaps rethink that condescending-politico performance style.

Re: “Oakland Looking to Ease Rules on Secondary Housing Units

Make sure that secondary units provide actual housing. Watch out that they don't just turn into air bnb rentals!
