Such a tragedy that we all have to bear the consequences of Mr. Thomas and other head-in-the sand types who make it easier for congress to drag its feet despite the vast majority of reputable science supporting climate change. The controversy of "Climategate" wouldn't have dented the mountains of already existing data supporting a warming planet even if some conspiracy to fudge data had been found, which of course was not the case as the investigations revealed. This is old news. By the way, it's now called "climate change" not out of some subterfuge (there really isn't a conspiracy around every corner!) but because generally climate deniers get confused if you call it "global warming" and a big snow storm hits the Northeast. Never mind that the greenhouse effect causes more water to be retained in the atmosphere which can increase chances of greater rainfall and snowfall. Climate change is producing more severe weather all around, so you also get stronger hurricanes and tornadoes and more severe droughts and heatwaves, all of which we have seen (not to mention the reams of solid data on the retreat of arctic ice, glaciers, sea level rise, etc., etc.) It has been stated over and over that we can expect more extreme weather, not hotter weather everywhere all the time - thus the term "climate change" is used to avoid confusion. Anyone interested in the the scientific merits of A.W. Monford's book should read through http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archi… Making this a Left vs. Right issue is just petty schoolyard side-taking and reveals a lack of interest in the actual science - in fact there are plenty of intelligent conservatives who realize this and believe in climate change.
