Religious bigot corporations, such as the Catholic enterprise, Mormon inc., and Evangelical franchise, are all members of the board of Yes on 8. We're going to prove it. They deserve to reap the seeds that they sewn! To cower away from it, like they are doing, shows reckless irresponsibility, and flamboyant ignorance towards the effects of their hateful campaign!
"Meanwhile, opponents of Prop. 8 likely will decide this week whether to launch an initiative to overturn the measure in the 2010 or 2012 election[.]"
Initially I supported this idea, but now that Perry vs. Schwarzenegger is in motion we should forget about the 2010 campaign to repeal proposition 8, and let this case unfold. If we are unlucky in court, we should proceed with the repeal of proposition 8 in the 2012 election.
Why should we need to ask permission from absolute strangers, via a vote, for permission to get married? Our private lives are none of their business, just as their private lives are none of our business.
"Walker also indicated that he intends to examine the anti-gay marriage group's contention that the law doesn't discriminate because it still allows gays and lesbians to marry - just someone of the opposite sex."
This is difficult to take seriously. Proposition 8 is about to be destroyed!
I love our mayor, Gavin Newsom, for standing up for our equal protection, under the law. He will never be forgotten for that. I'm also happy to have health insurance through Healthy San Francisco. It was created by Gavin. But, I don't know if I will support him as the governor of California.
Gerry Brown has an "I'll take care of it" attitude. In the end, he may not get anything taken care of, but under his control, there is a feeling that there is someone at the wheel. We know what his position is on proposition 8, and right now it is a very weird one. He argued against it in the California supreme court, but we don't know what he will do in the proposition 8 federal court challenge.
Whoever the next governor is, we need a majority rule to pass a budget.
