Re: “Prop. 8: Stop Ignoring the Numbers

As a person of color, I am going to shock the popular sentiment here and agree with the author. I am Indo-American and gay, and I know that a good majority of my ethnic community voted to pass Prop 8. And that is painful.

Some of us seem intent on ignoring facts. If we do not actually recognize that there is a problem of homophobia among black, latino, and other ethnic communities, we are never going to be able to fix it. Stop putting blinders on your eyes for the sake of political correctness. Barack Obama himself has talked *in Black Churches* about the problem of homophobia in the African American community. Even he realizes that. Those of us who share a community of color and the colors of the rainbow must ourselves recognize it and start conversations within our communities. This isn't about creating a divide, this is about recognizing facts.
