Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts
Molto bene, I miei amici. Comedy of errors is damn straight. If someone who can't find your address and serve you is worth $20 million in potential earnings, I can't wait for my own incompetence to pay off.
I get a real kick watching Eric Arnold cite the Gary Coleman issue as an example of the EBX's racial insensitivity; as a staffer at the time, he was only too happy to go along with the project and even contributed an article of his own.
What a coincidence! I've got me a tomb, and I've already built a mausoleum reserved for the East Bay's greatest song and dance queen, Rita Moreno. Does that mean she can wash clean my sins? Who am I kidding -- of course it does.
I'm sure they are, but unless you're the former president of the California state Senate, who can collect on favors you doled out over the course of a 20-year career in politics, you probably don't qualify.
A colleague pointed out some rather clumsy language in the opening section, and I'll just have to own up to it. After mentioning the Chronicle's financial difficulties, and the fact that the Hearst Corporation considered shuttering it, I write, "Dean Singleton's company MediaNews is in considerably better financial shape..." This sentence was supposed to contrast the health of Singleton's Bay Area papers with that of the Chronicle, but my sloppy construction gave the impression that MediaNews as a whole is doing better than the Chron's parent company. And while we don't know for sure, because Hearst's financial numbers are private, no mere print newspaper chain is going to outperform a company that owns Cosmopolitan, the Oprah Magazine, and pieces of ESPN and Lifetime Television.
Public flogging will commence at a date to be determined.
Whoops, meant to write the eastern span. My bad.
New York, sure. But is it living? Oy gevalt...
