Did you read any coverage over the last week of the Ward Churchill verdict in his civil suit for wrongful firing from the University of Colorado? Legal commentary on the case in the Denver Post indicated that when deans and regents call openly for the dismissal of a professor based on what that professor wrote, they are likely to cause an expensive civil judgment against the university and forced rehiring.
So, yes, we need to hold Obama's Justice Dept.'s feet to the fire, and yes, we need to prosecute his crimes, but no, we'd better hold off on firing him without more to hold against him than writings. The message is: don't fire professors for writing, fire them for criminal behavior.
Why exactly are you confused?
If you accept that it is the choice of the parent, and not the undocumented minor, to reside illegally in California, then why punish the kid by to the tune of $17,000-a-year?
Now, is the chance to save big bucks on tuition years down the road going to spur a new immigration wave to California? I wouldn't think so. Chances are, there are more immediate factors in a choice to immigrate without papers.
