Re: “AC Transit's Hydrogen Boondoggle

It's foolish and short-sighted for a cash-strapped transit property like AC Transit to be "experimenting" with fuel cell buses. AC Transit's job is to
provide the best and most efficient bus service possible. A bus full of people, even if propelled by a diesel engine, beats a street full of automobiles.
It's time AC Transit rededicated itself to its primary task, which to render its service more attractive to more riders and would-be riders.

Re: “AC Transit Director Justifies Junket

She should of course go.

Just not on AC Transit's money.

Re: “The Buses From Hell

When I first arrived in Oakland in 1996 I tried diligently to use the buses. Every time I did I ended up walking home, a three mile trip. I soon realized that in Oakland buses come at unpredictable times, cease operations at odd hours, stop at inscrutable locations and oten run mostly empty. While my introduction to AC bus operations was dismal, I still use public transit whenever I can; the only difference being that I now drive to BART and Amtrak stations.

So I can't comment on the Van Hools.

However I can say that if the decisions that led to the Van Hools are akin to those that govern AC routing and service planning, then they must indeed be "buses from hell".
