Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts
Lunny is the Cliven Bundy of Marin. He'll push his personal enrichment scam on our public land as long as he can get away with it. Time to evict this freeloading, environmentally damaging business.
Thank you Environmental Action Committee for protecting our public lands!
Thank you for shedding some light on the wilderness part of this issue, which has been diverted by Drakes Bay Co and Feinstein to a supposed debate about "good" science. Many of us who live in West Marin support wilderness for Drakes Estero and are sick of the oyster farm and Feinstein's endless fabricated smear campaign against the Park Service. We want to see the oyster operation pack up and go, as they agreed to do when they bought the remaining lease 7 years ago. A deal is a deal. This is an important estuary and wilderness area, and commercial operations that spread invasive species (none of their oysters are native) are incompatible. The public overwhelmingly wants the operation gone and full protection for the estuary.
Don't believe pro-development lies and distortions. The City of Oakland has been flagrantly violating state and federal endangered species protection laws, the CA Environmental Quality Act, and its own policies. It is needlessly and carelessly destroying several species of endangered plants as well as habitats for other endangered species.
Maintaining populations of these plants is compatible with effective fire control, regardless of the shoddy reporting of Channel 2 and the Tribune.
