Re: “Too Hot for School?

Bull shit!I am tired of reading smear campaigns by professors who stay in their secluded offices and tenureship and spout all kinds of negative comments and derogatory statements which are veiled with research, about those who work in the inner city trenches. Obviously, considering the state of achievement of inner city minority students, these professors only work to keep students deaf, dumb and blind. What has Mills College done to further the academic progress of students in East Oakland? Has anyone used quantative research (test data), not qualitative (questionaire data) to measure the effects of this multi-culturalist, soft racist approach to education used by Mills and their Dept. of Education? Though I would not ascribe to exactly the same measures as Dr. Chavis ( not Chavez as was spelled by the previous commentator who obviously did not analyze what they read), I like his school's results. This is proof enough to me that he knows what is working with inner city kids. I would like to see some successful qualitative data demonstrating the positive effects of Liberal minded, patronizing multi-cultural educators with inner city youth. I have been in the University system long enough to know that it does not exist. If I were a Mills College Administrator, I would reprimand the Professor for first of all, being out of class, and second of all, taking her class to a school who they know runs against their grain. The Mills College students could sue Mills College for taking them to this hostile environment where their little hearts and multi cultural; save the minority dreams, would be crushed? Sounds like Stress related injuries to me. But they are to nice to fight- arent you! _T
