Arts & Entertainment: Stage Theaters

The theatre has kept up such a high standard of excellence on its two stages in recent years that it stands head and shoulders above larger regional rivals.

A beautiful, multitiered auditorium, the 2,000-seat-capacity Zellerbach Hall on the UC Berkeley campus features the finest in high art, including dance, music, and other cultural performances, with a focus on the international. From jazz to chamber music, classical piano recitals to opera, Zellerbach – one of the many stages for Cal Performances – isn’t just a venue for the financially inclined either. Discounted tickets are available to UC Berkeley students, faculty, staff, and alumni, seniors, non-UC Berkeley students, and members of KQED and the East Bay Arts Card. The only drawback is the lack of parking around Telegraph. There are a few lots, but they fill up fast, so plan to arrive early or wear comfortable walking shoes as the Downtown Berkeley BART station is quite a few blocks away.
