Celebrated for fresh and gourmet-style lunch fare, this small cafe ironically shares space with a convenience store. Although it may be somewhat disorienting to order a goat cheese and arugula sandwich on Artisan bread while wire racks of candy and jerky loom in the near-distance, any cognitive dissonance vanishes with the first bite. Crunch into organic pesto, thick cucumbers, locally grown arugula, and know happiness. Like the superb and reasonably priced sandwiches, inspired smoothies feature healthy ingredients gathered from local farmers’ markets. No foodie should complain. Quality pastries served, organic and Fair-Trade coffee. Cash only.

Stepping inside this cozy club might conjure up sweet memories of sunny days spent in your grandma's kitchen. Beyond beer and wine, the cafe offers up a simple but sweet home-style menu of soups, sandwiches, and baked goods like lemon pound cake. Live bands, from jazz to bluegrass acts, hit the stage weekly. The Station also caters private events in its lounge area or in the entire cafe.

Across the street from the Rockridge BART station and situated inside Market Hall, Highwire Coffee Roasters (formerly Peaberry's) serves as a regular morning destination for commuters as well as a hangout spot for those with the time to contemplatively sit and sip their caffeine. Don't fret the long lines, the baristas are friendly and quick. In addition to coffee, the shop serves up pastries, fancy chocolates, gelato, and affogato, an Italian dessert of espresso and vanilla gelato.
