Newly-opened in Oakland's waterfront warehouse district, Urban Legend Cellars bottled 700 cases for its inaugural release. It consisted of five wines: a 2009 Sauvignon Blanc made from organic grapes grown in Lake County, a 2008 Nebbiolo-Sangiovese blend also from Lake County grapes; and three wines, Rosato di Barbera, Barbera and Teroldego, made from grapes grown in Clarksburg, on the Sacramento River.
About 1,000 cases a year of Zinfadel, Sangiovese, Syrah, Grenache, and other blended red wines are produced at Urbano Cellars' Berkeley winery.
In business for over a century, the Livermore winery professes to be California's oldest continuously operated family-owned winery. It features public and private tastings of estate-grown and other wines.
Westover Winery makes 1,000-2,000 cases of wine per year in Castro Valley. Most of the varietals it works with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Petite Verdoh, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon are grown locally. It also produces a large selection of dessert wines: Sherry, Muscat, and a number of flavored ports.
White Crane Winery has 12-acre property in the Livermore Valley, where it produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Sparkling Wines, a Portuguese Port and a Chardonnay Port.
