Las Positas is a 20-acre vineyard located in the southwest corner of the Livermore Valley. Chardonnay, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Petite Verdot, and Tempranillo grapes are grown on the property.
Lavish Laines is a young winery, started in 2008. Four varieties are grown on the property: Zinfindel, Petit Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Syrah.
Les Chenes Estate Vineyards specializes in Rhone varietals. The winery currently produces a particularly popular Syrah, as well as Zinfandel, Viognier, Grenache Noir, Mourvedre, Roussanne and two blends, "Deux Rouge," and "Deux Blanc."
The Little Valley's vineyards are located in Sunol, but the winery recently opened a tasting room in downtown Pleasanton. Little Valley produces a selection of sparkling wines: raspberry, peach and almond champagne, and a Cuvee. They also make Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, and a Portuguese-style port.
Longevity Wines is a boutique Livermore winery with a current annual production of approximately 500 cases. The winery's current releases include Lodi Viogner, Livermore Mourvedre, San Francisco Bay Merlot and Contra Costa County Syrah and Syrah Rose.
McGrail Vineyard specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard has been growing Cab grapes for ten years, and McGrail sourced grapes for Steven Kent Winery first, before beginning to bottle their own wines in 2003. Today, the winery produces about 1,000 cases a year, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (though one Chardonnay, as well).
Mitchell Katz Winery sits on 97 acres of vineyard. The grapes are all owned by Wente Vineyards, of which 20 tons are usually bought back for Mitchell Katz wine. The winery produces 10,000 cases of wine every year made, in large part, from the grapes grown in the Livermore Valley. Varietals include Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Port, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc. Make sure to try the winery's 2007 Sangiovese, and 2006 "Black Gold" Petite Syrah Port both were winners a slew of medals and awards.
The Mountain winery traces its roots back to 1878, when founder Paul Masson began grafting vines planted by early California missionaries to vines brought from the French vineyard where he grew up. The resulting champagne was a wild success, generating enough money for Masson to build his own winery in Saratoga. Today Mountain Winery produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, and Syrah. The winery has become well-known as a music venue as well. They host a summer concert series in a amphitheater on the property that consistently draws big-name performers between June and October.
Murieta's Well is part of the Wente Family Vineyards. Eleven varietals are grown on the property: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Mouvedre, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Souzao, Touriga Francesca, Touriga Nacional, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. All grapes grown on the 92-acre estate are sustainably-farmed, and wine-making operations are overseen by Phillip Wente. Anywhere from 5,000 to 8,000 cases are produced annually, depending on conditions that year.
Nottingham Cellars bottles Viognier grown in the Livermore Valley, Syrah grown in Lodi, Cabernet Sauvignon from the Livermore Valley, and a Red Blend made of 60 percent Livermore Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 40 percent Napa Valley Merlot.
Occasio makes an award-winning Pinot Gris and Petite Sirah, in addition to Rosé, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Merlot. All varietals are grown in the Livermore Valley.
Page Mill Winery was originally founded in the Santa Cruz mountains, but re-located to the Livermore Valley in 2004. The winery produces approximately 2,600 cases a year. Varietals include Sauvignon Blanc grown in the east end of the Livermore Valley; Chardonnay grown at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains and the west end of the Livermore Valley. The winery's Pinot Noir is from Santa Maria; their Merlot grapes are grown in Santa Clara County. Syrah is grown in the Pope Valley, Livermore Valley, and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Its Cabernet Sauvignon is grown Livermore Valley; Zinfandel in the lower Chiles Valley and in Lodi.
THe cellar specializes in blended red wines, like Deep 6, a six varietal blend. Current releases include: Zinfandel from Sonoma County, Syrah from Dry Creek, as well as Rose, and Pinot Noir. Future releases (Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Verdot, and Deep 6) can be purchased from the barrel, 40 percent before bottling. The winery also features occasional art shows in its tasting room.
This boutique Livermore winery puts out approximately 1,000 cases a year. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on the property are used in many of its wines, including a White Cabernet Sauvignon, the first of its kind grown in the Livermore Valley. It also makes Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel, and an Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. Weekend tastings are accompanied by food and music pairings.
Rios-Lovell produces24 different wines, and 26,000 cases a year. The varietals they work with include Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Viognier, and Mourvedre. All of the grapes are grown on the 64-acre Livermore estate.
