Following the success of last year's San Francisco Bacon and Beer Festival, the party is coming to Oakland as a fundraiser for Oakland Grown! On Sunday, March 9th the Oakland Bacon and Beer Festival will be held at the Market Building at Jack London Square from 2:30-5:00. Brought to you by Oakland Grown in partnership with Bison Organic Beer and Eat Boston, the Bacon and Beer Festival is a day to celebrate two amazing comestibles, bacon and beer.
Tickets will go on sale on this page Wednesday, February 12th at 10AM PST. Your ticket gets you into the Festival where you're free to sample from the restaurants and brewers, but please remember to share as there will be others there with the same idea. Invite your friends to join you and RSVP right here.

There are far worse ways to spend a Monday than doing some writing as meditation. Write for Your Life happens every Monday morning at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley (1 Lawson Rd., Berkeley), with participants writing in response to a reading at the top of the session. Reading aloud to the group is optional. 9:15-11:45 a.m., free. 510-524-2858 or UUCB.orgfree
If yoga is your jam but the usual gongs and grunts are getting you down, bring your mat to the Starline Social Club (2232 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Oakland) on Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for Oakland Showga, where East Bay Community Yoga founder Katie Colver teaches vinyasa classes for yogis of all levels to the sounds of a live local band. While the live music/yoga combo has been done before, Colver strives for a more mind- and body-bending experience by booking psychedelic line-ups that buck the New Age-y, Burning Man trend. If you leave class feeling a bit funky, it might be owed to more than just a strenuous workout. Showga.com$5-$15
