Megadome Series Featuring Greg Ashley

Megadome Series Featuring Greg Ashley
Between psychoacoustics, spectrum analysis, and transduction, whether you’re aware of it or not, music involves a lot of science. For instance, the field of psychoacoustics neatly explains why all rational Americans weep to Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska (okay, sometimes psychoacousticians consult rock critics.) Learn all about it when The Chabot Space & Science Center (10000 Skyline Blvd, Oakland) begins its season-long Cosmic Concerts series this weekend with a show by Greg Ashley, a sharp, local balladeer with lyrical chops, and John Morgan, the fiery, dynamic pianist from the Johns Brothers Piano Company. The interactive series occurs in the Megadome, where mind-expanding (also, educational) visuals appear on the sloped walls, and in addition to performing, Ashley and Morgan will encourage the audience to build instruments and spontaneously collaborate in a unique setting. Is science cooler when it partners with rock, or is the other way around? $12
