510-597-5027
Bites Off Broadway
There might be bigger food truck gatherings, and ones that attract slightly trendier vendors, but for our money, Oakland’s first officially sanctioned “food pod,” Bites Off Broadway (365 45th St., in front of the Studio One Art Center), is still one of the most charming of its kind. A veritable smorgasbord of face-painting, balloon-twisting, and hula-hooping should keep the kids entertained — and maybe help those of us who are only young in spirit to burn off some of those extra calories. Bring your own lawn chairs and picnic blanket. Free
