Re: “Bayfair Center Farmers' Market

The best place to find the sweetest and freshest strawberries just about the entire year. I have come to the market every Saturday with one goal- to purchase some Oxnard strawberries from the only vendor I know who has them,' Success Valley Farms'. Don't get me wrong there are other great things there and I do come home with more than just berries, but I only go there and to them for them. So go try the strawberries JUST MAKE SURE THEY ARE FROM OXNARD.

Re: “Ragtime

Forget anything that might come to your mind when you hear the words "Youth Musical Theater." This is no high school production -- expect, and you will experience, some of the very best musical theater you have ever seen. Not only are the principals extraordinarily talented singers and actors, the entire cast pops. Add to that a powerful story of early 20th Century New York that is more honest about racism, classism, and sexism than most of what you might see anywhere, making it completely relevant to our 99% times. Then add exquisite music delivered by a 26-piece orchestra, inspired direction, fabulous choreography, a beautiful set, an incredibly responsive audience, tears and laughter, and you get a roaring standing ovation. This show is simply not to be missed. It's such a treat, I'm going again.

Re: “Body Language: Thursday Nights at Luka's

Mixologist DJ’s was founded in Berkeley Ca in 1982. Orlando Williams (DJ O-Aces) Gary Bolton (Guru-G) has continued together for the past three decades. They are the longest recorded deejay duo in the country. In 2011 they repp'd the Bay by organizing and officially set the Guinness World Record for the largest Soul Train Line. All the experience they have from mixing in the 80’s, 90’s till now has gained them worldwide fame and respect. They have a way of taking all genres of music putting them in the mix for all to enjoy

The concept of Body Language manifested in a conversation. The discussion was about the ability of a Dj to read body language and play the music to inspire movement. We created this party to take you on a musical journey. You sing along and do all the dances as you celebrate music. So it is time to bust out all those moves. You remember the cabbage patch, running man and smurf. You gotta to feel it to believe. The East Bay now has a place to celebrate the best music of the 80’s & 90’s.

Re: “Tibetan Nyingma Institute

Great place to experience meditation and to explore it further. Classes in psychology, Buddhist studies, Tibetan, Tibetan Yoga, and, of course, meditation. Something for everyone, no matter what kind of orientation to self and the world. Peaceful meditation garden with giant prayer wheel is open to public whenever they are open.

Re: “Marica

I've eaten everywhere, and I love Marica's. They do wonderful fish, are fairly priced, and have a wonderful wait staff who make the dining experience terrific. Zagat rates them a 27 on food, which is only one star less than chez panisse and stars ahead of Oliveto, Bay Wolf, etc. It is a great local place to eat.

Re: “Highwire Coffee Roasters

The owners are a coffee and tea dream team with over 50 years combined experience. Rich, Robert & Eric love nothing more than meeting customers and sharing their love of fine coffees and teas. You won't meet three nicer people and can ask them any questions, whether you are a seasoned Third Waver or an occasional decaf drinker.
The pastries from Starter Bakery are the best around - the Kouign Amann is a bit of heaven.
Keep your eyes on Highwire, great things are coming from these guys. They care about their customers and what they brew the cup.

Re: “Windsurfing Lessons

Cal Sailing Club is the best deal on the bay if you want fun, safe, cooperative windsurfing and sailing. All the teachers are volunteers, the club is a non-profit, and members fix the gear and provide free sailing Open House events and free sailing for disadvantaged youth groups in summer. Thanks to grants from the State Department of Boating and Waterways, the gear is superb--nice wide, stable windsurf boards with lightweight, easily handled sails, and modern trainer sailboats with nimble controls and forgiving handling. Plus the club has a "refugee kitchen" where hungry windsurfers and sailors gather for food and homebrew. If you just want to learn windsurfing, and want a pro to get you carving jibes fast, a windsurf program like Alameda Boardsports, ABK, or Delta Windsurf is great. But for a fun intro to windsurfing, Cal Sailing Club offers the best deal on the bay.
