Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts

I have been the coordinator for 3 years now, after this review was written. Each year we have more and more people (8,000 people came last year alone). We have a great line up of entertainment on the stage, kid's carnival rides, a petting zoo, over 90 community and craft vendors and over 15 food vendors.
Bring the whole family - if you want to beat the crowds, come at the beginning, as it gets full of folks later in the afternoon. Personally, I think it is a wonderful, family oriented and neighborly fair.
Dick and Jane Hella Mad Records....
June 17 at 9:36am
Dear Dick and Jane, Thank you for the great performance last Saturday. I am always skeptical when I see acoustic instead of electric
and sometimes as we get older, performers mellow and tone down their performances. (Some call it their "mature" phase.) I see that time
and time again. Maybe I need to grow to appreciate that more but This was not the case with Dick and Jane. The powerful performance
evoked the anger and sparse nature of early punk rock/experimental genres. Linda and Dave are reunited to create the magic that they
did together 25 years ago when they played on the same bill as No Alternative at Gilman st. I look forward to seeing them again!
The Lunchbox Project is such a positive event and the issue of disposable single-use foodware in our streets needs to be talked about more. Thank you Clean Water Action for bringing an event to East Oakland!

Fantastic show with an amazing, talented cast of local actors. Go see Music Man!
Incredibly funny comedians...super cheap!
Great club come check it out.
Steve and Cindy are fantastic! Whether the song is one of Steve's (Darcy Farrow, Bed of Roses, Grapes on the Vine, (That Song About) The River, and many more), one of Cindy's, a traditional song that Cindy interprets, or a carefully chosen cover tune, the result is the same. Pure joy, outstanding musicianship, and wonderful vocals. Don't miss your chance to see them perform live. Visit their website at http://compassrosemusic.com to learn more about them.
Opening night is January 2 (not January 9), folks!
Yes I love this Solstice Celebration! I will be there.
Current Show "A little Princess" is a fabulous production with some broadway talent and great staging. Despite the name, this classic story has much wider appeal than just little girls. Its about bravery in the face of adversity, and a love of adventure even when surrounding by pressure to be conventional. If you loved RENT you are in for a treat -- one of the leads here won the TONY in 1996 for Angel in Rent. while all the adult leads and child leads are professional level here, his voice has a tone that transports you and echoes in the theater. Great fun evening -- runs through Dec 8th.
This concert is on Saturday the 23rd, not Friday!
Can't wait for the event!
