Dear Dick and Jane, Thank you for the great performance last Saturday. I am always skeptical when I see acoustic instead of electric

and sometimes as we get older, performers mellow and tone down their performances. (Some call it their "mature" phase.) I see that time

and time again. Maybe I need to grow to appreciate that more but This was not the case with Dick and Jane. The powerful performance

evoked the anger and sparse nature of early punk rock/experimental genres. Linda and Dave are reunited to create the magic that they

did together 25 years ago when they played on the same bill as No Alternative at Gilman st. I look forward to seeing them again!

Re: “Anti-Litter Day of Action

The Lunchbox Project is such a positive event and the issue of disposable single-use foodware in our streets needs to be talked about more. Thank you Clean Water Action for bringing an event to East Oakland!

This isn't weekly. It's usually monthly, but can be sporadic.

Re: “Join the Friends of Knowland Park Earth Day Rally!

Special guests Country Joe McDonald, and Hali Hammer and Randy Berge will provide entertainment, and lend their support to saving Knowland Park from the Oakland Zoo's destructive plan to "develop" the open space into a theme park for paying customers.

Re: “Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen

Steve and Cindy are fantastic! Whether the song is one of Steve's (Darcy Farrow, Bed of Roses, Grapes on the Vine, (That Song About) The River, and many more), one of Cindy's, a traditional song that Cindy interprets, or a carefully chosen cover tune, the result is the same. Pure joy, outstanding musicianship, and wonderful vocals. Don't miss your chance to see them perform live. Visit their website at to learn more about them.
