Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts
Horrible food, I felt sick immediately after eating it, I do not think it was fresh and the restaurant did not seem sanitary. I was very disappointed.
Horrible customer service. I ordered a red special for take out and when I got home there was no miso soup. I called in to complain and they told me that it was there policy that they do not give soup for take away and also they "Do not tell customers" that they don't.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Wonderful, attractive yet welcoming dining destination for everyone. Very interesting and delicious food. Dinner, weekend brunch and newly open for lunch. Only criticism is menu not easy to understand and exclusive delivery by Caviar, which has customer-unfriendly policies. Parking a challenge.
I saw a lot of magazines in this store but nowhere near enough. Couldn't find the current affairs magazine "The Week" (http://theweek.com)
The menu above, has nothing to do with Turkish Kitchen.
Check their website for accurate menu.
The telephone number to the hall is 510.522.7626
Let me start with the punchline: I was accused by the server that I walked out without paying the bill. Is that stereotypical or what?!!
Of course, they found the signed receipt while I stood outside waiting at the front door -- feeling humiliated on top of the bad service I received.
I was never offered water, they never came to check to see if everything was ok after the food was served. They rave about how fresh their food is, but can't provide fresh table top condiments. They are stale.
I did notice Everyone else in the establishment had water and were tended to and asked if everything was ok.
If they only knew who I was they wouldn't of made such a bad judgement based on gender, race, or creed. But this is the world we live in. I am happy to spend my money elsewhere where I am treated as a human being who is an upstanding American citizen who votes.
Always a great meal at Miss Ollie's, right down the street from our condo. Atmosphere is on the very plain side, but nice vibe. If you are looking for a quiet place then you might want to consider other options, but don't be scared away by the loudness issue if you don't mind a bit of noise. I highly recommend this spot.
The address is incorrect. It is not 2071 Addison St. Berkeley, CA.
The correct address is: 2081 Center St, Berkeley, CA 94704.
Bomb bicycle coffee!
I can't find another building that has more studios than the Sawtooth Building in Berkeley California or anywhere else.
This is an ancient address for my dream groups (maybe 2005). Occasionally someone goes to Grand Avenue looking for the group. Please check out www.dreamreplay.com. Thanks David Jenkins
This all sounds like someone or a small group's pet project to get a restaurant built with a view. I suspect hidden motivations and not for the overall good for the public.
This is the same mentality shown be the City when they tried to re do the Chabot Golf course and re route and rebuild a club house restaurant with a view
The map showing this in West Oakland is wrong because the zip code is really 94606. It's on EAST 18th, and the actual cross street is 14th Ave
Let me go out on a limb and state that this is probably a good burger. It could even be a great burger, and at $12 for a six ounce patty, it still appears to be conventionally raised beef, not touted as sustainable or organic or even with any non-cruelty standards applied to the raising and care of the beef, and wait-- I haven't even been charged yet for extra caramelized onions or jalapeños, much less any carbs or tater tots.
I don't mean to pick on Handlebar, but I'm just approaching the place as my wife and I did the other week. We saw the menu, realized that we would be spending nearly $20 apiece for a hamburger, fries and a drink, and we turned around and visited another joint. We all have noted that a lot of restaurants are saying that they buy local, organic, sustainable produce and meat, etc. etc. provide a living wage to their employees, blah blah blah...but it wasn't even stated as organic.
Handlebar is just another example of I've-got-cred-and- now-I-can-charge-the-asses-off-the-foodie-and- gullible. If the ingredients were organic etc., I would possibly consider the purchase, but for $40 I could head home, buy enough ingredients on my own, and serve 4-6 people a relatively decent and comparable burger. Yah, it may not be as good, but $12 is $12.
Hell, Barney's still delivers a decent sandwich for a lot less. Jus' sayin'.
Sketchy, unprofessional. Rude staff and ultra-masculine security guards. Not sure why "patient" is in the name or why it is considered to be medical. (They are also unaware of use of pesticides in flowers and solvents in concentrates - how is that medical?)
