Re: “Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson Hit in Face with Pie at Event, Assaults Protester in 'Bloody' Scene

I'm simply at a loss parenthetically not surprised by the anti black comments... Why do some find their best response is to say Go Back You Africa? That's easy to say Mr. Mertz... Let's see Poland is it, yes that's the origin of your name. Holocaust right? Your people fled, right? Ummmm... I'm guessing you're angry by now as you should be because that was a horrible act against humanity. AMERICA (black and white) help then and still supports and celebrates the survivors and remembers those lost senselessly. But your people fled to a country built on the backs of Slaves who didn't ask to come nor wanted to or NEEDED to like yours. So by your logic let's all return from whence we can and give the Indians their land back... Dumbass. As far as the sexual applications, Johnson should have never permitted himself to be in a place of probability but in this country we ALL are innocent until proven guilty. Don't get upset when the law of justice actually works for a non-white. Lastly, yes he's a public official, but first he's a man. Abs I CERTAINLY doubt any man of any public office or, a simple husband, father etc. would not punch a person who has escalated from heckling to physical assault. If any of you are willing to eat there pie.... Then go get some in your face.

Re: “Soda Industry Spent $67 Million Fighting Sugar Taxes and Health Labels Since 2009

The product and political approach of Big Soda both have much in common with those of Big Tobacco. The playbook includes silence on the reality of the health-damaging effects of the product, distraction, deflection, and, of course, the ever-popular Big Lie.

Mr. O’Hara’s comment is insightful and relevant in that one of the memes that Big Soda has inserted by into the conversation is the canard that a soda tax is ineffective in achieving its goal of reducing sugary beverage consumption. Of course, big soda feels no need to be consistent in their arguments. Anything their strategists think may be effective will do just fine.

The particulars of the Big Soda campaign in Oakland feature wrapping themselves in the false flag of concern about the welfare of economically disadvantaged communities (who knew they cared about regressive taxes?). And then there’s the pushing of the recently manufactured “grocery tax” lie out of the mouths of recruited minority business owners (amazing how they all thought up the same argument!), with, of course, colorful contextual images of fresh fruit and so on.

Re: “Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson Hit in Face with Pie at Event, Assaults Protester in 'Bloody' Scene

Thanks to Lord Henry for helping me get back my lost husband. I and my husband have been married for 6 years now, we had two kids together. We lived happily for some time after our wedding and suddenly my husband started cheating with his employer and after some months he left home. I tried talking with him on email but he never replied back to me and would not even pick or return my calls. I was so worried because I could not get him back. I tried all I could for 2 years but all my hope of getting him back was in vain. I told my friend how I loved my husband and wish to have him back and she promised to introduce me to a powerful and experience spell caster who she said once helped her with a pregnancy spell. She gave me his email: permanentspellcast@yahoo.com and his website: www.permanentspellcaster.com . I emailed the spell caster for help and followed all the procedures of his spells, he helped me cast a love spell on my husband and told me to wait for about 3 hours, I really did and I was so surprised that for the first time after 2 years my husband called me and asked for forgiveness and promised to come back home that evening. I was so happy that he really did returned home and now we are living more happily than ever. Thanks to Lord Henry the powerful, experienced permanent spell caster for helping me. If you are also experiencing this same marital problems, kindly get to Lord Henry on permanentspellcast@gmail.com permanentspellcast@hotmail.com and www.permanentspellcaster.com

Re: “Online Poll Attacks Oakland Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, Claims False Endorsements for Peggy Moore

The tactic of saying 'Kapalan has precided over Oakland while there is a widening income inequality' as though the very problem she has fought tirelessly to address is her fault starts of the Poll with very disappointing retoric. This kind of language I see in wider political spheres (Presidential and state elections) where the pointing out of the problem by people who have policies that will surely make it worse is a tactic to get people to vote for them. Disappointing and frustrating to see this happening on a local level and not true to an Oakland community ethos that many here appreciate and ascribe to. Makes me even more suspicious of Libby Scarf's motives also.

Re: “Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson Hit in Face with Pie at Event, Assaults Protester in 'Bloody' Scene

To all the people supporting the mayor for his beat down of this protester you guys should go fuck yourselves the fact of the matter is this man assaulted another man with a fucking pie not a baseball bat not his fists not his spit even so for all of you talking tough about hey if you're going to attack someone then you should make sure you have a backup plan or I would've broken his arms or whatever the hell you guys are commenting on as far as this protester is concerned at least he had the balls to stand up for a conviction that he has against the Mayor. A piece of shit mayor who has not done anything other than cost more revenue and tax problems for Sacramento. You people can tough talk all you want but our mayor is a piece of human garbage and waste. He is a child molester and a falsifier of records and has stolen money from the very city that you live in and love like I do. This man is a terrible mayor. The fact that this young man, protester, whatever you want to call him is getting charged with assault on a public official which could lead to a lot of jail time is pathetic. it was a pie and for you you people cheering on our mayor for beating the shit out of this guy makes me very very sad for the residents of Sacramento. it is obvious to me that the elite have come to Sacramento and that gentrification is a real thing. This kind of thing just proves once again that those in power, those with money can get away with whatever they want. You defenders of our mayor's actions make me sick. You are piles of human fucking waste!

Re: “Low-Level Cops Facing Punishment in East Bay Sex Crimes Scandal

Very disturbing is an understatement. The Negotiated Settlement Agreement was supposed to address exactly these long standing deficiencies and, to date, the Federal monitoring costs have exceeded $30 million. The failure of the City to ensure compliance is the reason we are calling upon the voters to pass Measure LL to establish an independent commission of Oakland residents. Something different must be done to provide Oakland residents with the ability to hold the Department accountable when they engage in such abysmal and unethical (if not illegal) behavior. We deserve better.

To the naysayers, Thompson is lucky he can still speak and see! Had this been someone else you might be attending Thompson's funeral. If you want to hit, expect to be hit back; that turn the other cheek scenario doesn't work for all!

Re: “Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson Hit in Face with Pie at Event, Assaults Protester in 'Bloody' Scene

On one side, this pieman seriously needed that whooping years ago. Despite personally knowing the mayor and initially laughing at this (he deserved it!). I must admit he had every right to exact a good beat down.

The flip side, however is that none of the Leftist slime whining about this raised a voice when allied scum attacked Ann Coulter multiple times over the past few book tours.

I have to give the weenie little pos props for going after a target bigger than himself as opposed to the thugs that assaulted AC (what 100 lbs in an overcoats and boots?). Kiv, glad you weren't hurt, but you'll never believe these thugs deserve such beat downs unless you/yours are the victims. jess sayin'.

Re: “Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson Hit in Face with Pie at Event, Assaults Protester in 'Bloody' Scene

A. I could be wrong but sounds to me like the protester tried to get away after hitting the mayor in the face with the pie so how is chasing a guy down tackling him and beating him "to a pulp" self defense? B. I get that a pie in the face is considered assault especially when done to a public official but once again "beating a guy to a pulp" for hitting you with a pie should not be considered as self defense ever. Don't get me wrong the protester should absolutely be prosecuted but so should the mayor for his actions. That is no way to react to such a small "assault" especially if your the mayor of your city. Ridiculous on both ends.

Re: “Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson Hit in Face with Pie at Event, Assaults Protester in 'Bloody' Scene

Nobody is right. There are no winners. Protesters need to stick to Protesting legally. Protesting is not Assaulting people. This is perpetuating one ignorant response after another. The American people are coming across like a mob of ignorant, violent, out of control jack asses. This is all so embarrassing.
