Re: “Major Pot Company Hit With Six Counts of Securities Fraud

Interesting quote from Troy Dayton. It appears that he is available on the Cannabis Expert Calling Network (ECN) for (paid) phone calls. A good way to get direct advice: https://cannabis.expertcallingnetwork.com/troydayton

As an East Bay native of, straight persuasion, never stop fighting for what you KNOW is right. Once people know they can run you over on any inequality issue, they will keep running you over, do not let reason by replaced by fear . No pasaran!

Re: “Barclay's Pub Forced to Leave Rockridge after 25 Years

Bijan,

I must disagree. Perhaps you had a bad day, as all businesses have, but in the 23 years I've been coming to Barclays it has always been family friendly. I started as a patron and started bringing my daughters with me. They were always treated with respect. Both started working there as their first jobs, and my younger daughter, who started as a hostess at 15 now is assistant manager and orders the beer. There is not a day goes by that there is not a stroller in the pub or on the patio. The proposed "theme" pub, with a full bar, will alienate many of these families who feel comfortable coming here. It will be a true loss for Rockridge.

Any official who supports this coal terminal is on my no list.

Re: “Experts, Grand Jury Ding City of Berkeley's 'Ridiculous' Email Policy

The technology issues can be solved easily once a mandate has been given to preserve all public emails. Cities could even use Gmail if they like the functionality.
Any official who says in 2016 that they are not willing and able to preserve all their electronic communications is unelectable in my view.

Re: “Major Pot Company Hit With Six Counts of Securities Fraud

This is just another shinning example of corporate greed and them taking advantage of ignorant people mislead and misguided by their own government! Until federal law says you can "sell" and "profit" from cannabis, marijuana or hemp then NO one can without the potential of federal prosecution and 10 years to life in federal prison! Just ask all those sitting in federal prison now which these wolves in sheeps clothing (hemp) will soon join!

Re: “Major Pot Company Hit With Six Counts of Securities Fraud

This company is the epitome of a penny stock scam. I have been watching these jokers for more than three years, and the behavior of Bruce Perlowin and his cronies is disgusting. What a shame to see them seek ill-gotten gains by hijacking the theme of hemp legalization rather than building a real company.

Re: “#LibbyLeaks: Oakland Mayor Launches Investigation Against City and Police Whistleblowers

Senor Boom-Boom knows not of what he writes: "Same story as reported by a real journalist, not a muckraker."

Senor: Although "muckraker" may seem to be a nasty term to the journalistically uninitiated, its meaning is laudatory.

To wit: "The term muckraker was used in the Progressive Era to characterize reform-minded American journalists ...the modern term is investigative journalism, and investigative journalists today are often informally called "muckrakers."

The story as stated here is just that: investigative journalism or muckraking.

Re: “Oakland Coal Vote Days Away — But City Still Hasn’t Released Crucial Study

Seems like Ms. Shaaf's who worked for Ignacio, and later Brown, adminstration is an extension of Jerry's. Deeply disappointing to those whose children attended school with her. It seems we get the same old, same old in the admin office, and this whole deal is deeply unpopular with the people who live in this town. It is especially bad as Phil Tagami has done good work here and benefitted a great deal from city coffers, has such contempt for us all. Poor Oaktown, every one gets over on this town, and our fellow citizens always have to settle for less. I hope to live long enough to see an administration that can change the paradigm.

Re: “Major Pot Company Hit With Six Counts of Securities Fraud

HEMP is not POT! This is not used like cannabis. The gov't may have classified it in the same category but more states are legalizing as it is used for materials used in clothing and fibers as a food additive. As to the breaking of SEC rules that is yet to be proven i a court of law.

Re: “Oakland Grill

Best breakfast in the area, and a genius "off-the-menu" (used to be on there) patty melt anywhere. Always delicious, and quick, even during busy weekday lunch. The staff are charming, bright, and exceptional.

Re: “Black Oakland Police Officers Slam Schaaf over OPD Texting, Human Trafficking Scandals

This has been going on a long time. What gets me is if there was a DEEP investigation into ALL policing agencies, we would be under marshal law. The whole USA. Our sheriffs dept. is a mess as well. Also
I was so surprised to hear our Mayor identify the race of the "racist texters".....racism has no color! We all have them in our family. PERIOD!

Re: “Black Oakland Police Officers Slam Schaaf over OPD Texting, Human Trafficking Scandals

The Oakland city administrator's plan to contain the OPD scandal by going after the whistle blowers reeks of desperation. Schaaf reportedly was not concerned about years of OPD misconduct until scandal erupted on her watch, and Landreth's plan guarantees that OPD misconduct will continue. We need an INDEPENDENT police commission: the city council is inept and often laughable, and Brooks and McElhaney have reportedly committed official misconduct themselves.
