Re: “Corporate Beer Overlords AB InBev To Open Golden Road 'Craft' Beer Garden in North Oakland

We are still accepting signatures on our petition through 4 pm Monday 4/10 voicing our concerns to City of Oakland planning commission and city council regarding the impact of Golden Road on the neighborhood in terms of noise, traffic, parking and pushing small local brewers out: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/golden-road-Temescal

Re: “The Wolf in Oakland Modernizes a Cal-Cuisine Legend

Monsieur Chateaubriand,

Your comments on this review were thoughtfully and poignantly written and I think you captured quite well the essence of what is at hand here. With regards to Queen Bauer, I concur. I've grown weary of his incapacity to see the glass half full and the condescending way he dismisses restaurants that clearly have a lot going for them like The Wolf.

The Wood's and Chef Yang have the heart, soul, tenacity and commitment to make The Wolf every bit as legendary as Michael Wild's beloved establishment. Additionally with a chef as young and talented as Yang we have yet to see what this amazing Oakland woman will achieve in her tenure at The Wolf.

With your writing skills perhaps you could throw your hat in the ring as the next food critic for The Chronicle. This reader would be grateful for new perspectives.

Re: “Can Legal Weed Save the Music Industry?

My name is Mr. JOHN ALEX, I am 33 years old and I based in Canada. I want to notify the general public how I was helped by Illuminati temple in regaining back my business position after been sacked for about a year and six months. I have been in pains and trouble since when I was sacked from the company where I work called Canada Deposit Insurance corporation in Ottawa (headquarter) in Canada as an agency executive. I have been hopeless, financially down through out that year. But one day as I was browsing through the Internet I came across the post of Mr. John an Illuminati agent saying you can be famous, rich and successful in life by been a member of the great Illuminati Brotherhood, immediately I contacted him and I explained everything to him and he recommended me and he helped me by initiating me to the Great Illuminati Brotherhood and also he gave me all the guidelines and told me their place of worship. With the help of Mr. John I was able to go to the temple and there I was initiated fully as a complete Illuminati member. Surprisingly 40 hours after I was initiated, I receive a call from the company that I have been accepted back again as the agency executive of the company at first I was shocked and surprised but latter regain myself, I was told to resume work the next day by 7:00am. Starting from that day I and my family had been living a joyful and a luxurious life. So viewers who are interested in becoming a member of the Illuminati Brotherhood and also wants to be famous, rich, wealthy and gain power should peacefully contact Mr. John on his email address on (illuminatibloodmoney88@gmail.com) or you can as well call him on +2349060961651 or add him up on whatsapp on +2349060961651) . Re: “State Sen. Nancy Skinner: Latest Fatal Oakland Fire Was 'Preventable'

What many don't see is the spate of fires are not just apartments, or empty warehouses. The FedEx truck into the students from LAUSD killed ten, five Filipino nurses on the San Mateo Bridge, the unfinished Mission Bay Fire in SF, the deadly San Bruno Fire, the Deadly Walnut Creek Explosion in 2004 and a slew of fires affecting restaurants in the East Bay, Berkeley and SF. Walnut Creek lost Piedmont Lumber and La Virage, Wendy's and many others.

One of the Kim brothers is a long time friend and I was in that building in 1995. The reality is it appears they lost control of the building with squatters and the like. From what I read the third floor was no-mans land.

The fire officials and the codes they use need to adjust tactics. I've operated large wood based operations - I never would lack fire extinguishers or fire suppression. The reality is who was in control, who was in the building when this or that happened etc.

My personal arson story is horrific where I went to the Alameda District attorneys and met with two investigators about the Ghost Fire where I knew several vics via music. I met some of the E-music at local events, fascinating how they make the sounds come together.

What I told them was I have an arsonist following me. They didn't believe me but trust me you're see me at an Oakland council meeting as I went to the Mayors Office with my blogs.

It gets personal as I knew Berkeley Fireman Tony Nunes quite well. His friend Bat Chief John Riley died in the Oakland Fire.

The Kim brother that's been a friend in the 80s was almost killed in the Parkwoods that exploded behind him in the Oakland Firestorm in 1991. I found videos posted showing Parkwoods burning to the ground as he's leaving.

How does one class get ensnared two of three deadliest fires? They don't they are being targeted like I've been tageted.

Dig in and read.

I have lost everything, my family, houses, assets and my sons in connection to the Police Scandal in the East Bay now six years old.

I have beaten many times but I have been broken, there is a difference.

Re: “West Oakland Fire Survivors Say City's Response Is Unacceptable and Victim Assistance Is Lacking

Unbelievable, and yet completely and utterly in line with the way this city operates. The underserved remain underserved and worse. Not sexy enough for the mayor to hold a press conference, and not enough PR kickback for the sports teams to kick-in a few dollars. Disgraceful.

Re: “The Wolf in Oakland Modernizes a Cal-Cuisine Legend

Excellently argued review, and much better than Queen Bauer's never-ending condescension, even as both reviews argue essentially the same thing: The shadow of the rightfully legendary Bay Wolf perhaps impedes Peng from achieving the breakaway moment of which she is capable. Bay Wolf, over its forty year run, became a beloved staple, a wonderfully Latin-Euro (French, Italian, Spanish) and Cali take on comfort food.

What we all have forgotten, it seems, is that Bay Wolf made its bones by taking us all to new territory back in the day, and that its beloved "comfort" ethos developed only in the last decade of its multi-decade run.

The Wolf can pay true homage to Bay Wolf by doing what Wild and company did in the first place: take the recipes and improvise freely and lovingly, without the aim of playing solely to the past or becoming a Cali legend, both of which the Bay Wolf achieved almost as an afterthought.

To the ever-talented Ms. Peng: never mind the shadow. Do YOUR thang, and the ghost of Bay Wolf will smile approvingly.

What needs to be done about the Raiders is to design a "poison pill" of some sort that would never allow them to return.

Re: “City of Oakland Shuts Down Novella Carpenter's Urban Farmstand

The whole level of resources being committed to this issue is ridiculous. Has the City forgotten the multiple deadly fires killing dozens of people? And somehow the code enforcement resources of the city cannot bring those monstrosities into safe compliance and they have staff on Chard Patrol duty? (Yeh I know Planning and Building Code enforcement staff are not fire inspectors but fire code violations are very closely related to building violations. We need to put the Chard Patrol staff on loan to the Fire Department to work on core life safety inspections for the next couple years).

Re: “City Emails: Many Dublin Residents Think Undocumented Immigrants Are 'Felons' Who Will Turn Their Town Into a 'Cesspool'

The comment by "Sammy Jo" above is a joke. It is undoubtedly one of the opposition posing as her. Way to sink even lower. Funny thing is, most people seeing this article know who you are and could list the names next to many of those mean-spirited quotes. The real Sammy Jo, is much more thoughtful and caring for all residents of Dublin and beyond. Oh, and the Berkeley comment is clear evidence of an imposter as it's not the first time it has been said in an effort to discredit Sammy Jo and Sammy Jo would never say that. Finally, if all the Dublin opposition to sanctuary city would take just a few minutes to actually listen and read, you will find all your yelling and screaming against a sanctuary effort is misplaced, as that has nothing to do with Sammy Jo's proposal to council.

Hi, I am an out of state resident, and I'm visiting San Fransisco for 10 days. I was hopping to get a medical card here, I am over 21, a US citizen and I have back pains and insomnia. If i don't have proof of address for myself but my mom lives here, is there anyway I could get a mmj card within the next couple of days?

Re: “City Emails: Many Dublin Residents Think Undocumented Immigrants Are 'Felons' Who Will Turn Their Town Into a 'Cesspool'

I live in Dublin and I see no reason to have a Sanctuary City at all. We have Federal and state laws that are in place and we don't need this in the city of Dublin. We don't need this town to be another Berkeley.

I am so bummed. I have fond memories of my first child playing on the piano, reading books, and grabbing a sandwich/cuppa joe at this shop. We really felt welcomed here. Happy to hear owner is retiring, though, hope he enjoys this time. Best of luck!

You'll be missed. I've greatly appreciated your searching out of smaller places that would otherwise be completely overlooked. I hope your successor will maintain this ethos, and that you'll imprint some of that perspective to the glossy pages of your new gig. Good luck!
