Oakland, Berkeley, And East Bay News, Events, Restaurants, Music, & Arts
If anyone has seen Vassar's previous film retrospectives, it's an amazing body of work and you'll learn a tremendous amount of never-before-known history about the National Parks. This presentation was first shown to a sell-out crowd in March 2016 at the Smithsonian Institution and it has sold out wherever it has appeared since. The program will be touring throughout California in 2016 and into 2017, so here's an amazing opportunity to see it in the Bay Area's most intimate theater.
An amazing work of art. Directed by Jim Cave, composed by Erling Wold.
I love Shooter's the atmosphere is very cool and me and my friends have been coming to this bar for years! I love Rosie the bartender she makes the best drinks 😊 the only thing I would change is the age requirement to 30 & up!
I'm glad it wasn't any longer than it was.
Supporters of the current mayor, who represent big corporate development money are obviously trying to get the people who are more progressive out of the running, out of elected seats and away from appointed positions. Their pockets for funds are almost bottomless when compared to grassroots community. This is happening in District 5 too with the council and school board candidates. Oakland 's soul is being sold, but many voters in the hills , who are starry-eyed over this mayor, don't realize what is going on here and will vote our interests away this election .
I worked with Peggy Moore during the 2012 OFA campaign. I had a personal experience that caused me to be very suspicious of her moral compass. Everyone should be questioning Peggy Moore's ethics and intent. The corruption in Oakland is horrible and Peggy Moore will just make the problem worse.
So claiming Lee and Thurmond endorsed Moore is just 'a hypothetical' according to the political consultants. Some might call it an obvious con job to link Moore to two local Black elected officials; most people would call it a lie. It certainly calls into question Ms Moore's ethics and intent. No candidate supported by the incompetent Mayor Schaff should be allowed anywhere near City Hall.
I took this poll last week and was never followed up with that the endorsements were false. Disappointed but not surprised.
This clearly shows that we should not vote for Peggy Moore!
I look forward to joining you and participating in this service
I filled out the "poll" as well and never got a follow-up message.

I guess the Mayor wants a rubber stamp (Moore) and not someone on the council that actually fights for tenants rights (Measure JJ) , environmental justice (No Coal Trains in Oakland) or a police Commision accountable to the citizens. Vote Kaplan
The bigger question here are the ethics of EMC. EMC generally does legitimate polling for groups or candidate interested in how voters perceive candidates and issues. My wife received this email poll, and it was clearly an attempt to advocate for Moore. The poll never disclosed who was behind it, but it was quite clear that it was put out to support Moore. Time for EMC to step up and provide full disclosure with their polls. Otherwise, any results they produce should be viewed with great skepticism.
I participated in that poll! Last week. It didn't seem very "partial" to me at the time. It felt skewed toward Peggy Moore the more I think about it. No pun intended. I received no "follow-up" either.
Well that's pretty sleazy.
She was asked at the Democratic Forum Thursday and she kind've seemed to support it but now that I think about it, did not actually say that. Also said she wasn't supporting Measure JJ, renters' protections.
what is really crazy is that this post comes from 2009, that's 7 years and YELP just keeps on moving. Very SAD for the business community
Great idea! I would like to know her position, as well.
How about reaching Gonzalez and asking her position on the ballot measure?
"yet undeveloped restaurant neighborhoods" Pretty soon that area will be so "developed" no resident who lives there now will be able to afford to eat at this pizza or (inevitable) brunch place. This is how an "affordable" (read: "less affluent") neighborhood gets colonized by white gentrifiers and turned into the next Temescal. Another restaurant for high-so's making inroads.
