What a rare opportunity to learn from someone like Marthe Cohn. How she dealt with personal danger on a minute-to-minute basis. What compelled her to do this? What sustained her level of motivation and love for people and her country?
Great opening night on Thursday. Huge variety of mediums made it especially interesting. Really loved the wire sculptures of Pamela Merory Dernham!
This is going to be a great event...See you there!
Winner! Laugh a minute!

I love this local gallery and club. The painting on the walls great;the service is great and the musicians are incredible. I am pleased to say "Come to the gallery and enjoy the local talent. I am just so pleased that there is a comfortable place in Oakland that I can go to to enjoy really good music. When the Jazz Voyagers are playing, please do not miss them. This is real jazz that you don't hear everywhere. I am just grateful!!!
Great little cafe that serves delish food. Lets you bring in your own wine while listening to some god music. The Extramarital Sextet is a jazz band worth listening to. The entire range of jazz, expertly covered fr your listening pleasure. Not to be missed. Plus they are local so why not support a great local cafe and a great local band of jazz musicians.
How wonderful performs will be held in Copenhagen! I wish If I were go.
Just now, I learned that I have the talent for beading because I get to stimulate my creativity. Now I can make various beaded gifts to my friends and family that I can personally make and it gives them happiness. I think everyone should try to hook one bead and let us see how well you perform. I am very thankful to these kinds of websites because it really made me a good bead maker now.
wow. Derek and Susan and company put on a great show. Soulful, blues/jazzy, with a driving beat from the two hardworkin' drummers... Warfield is great venue, and TTB filled that place with some good beats. Could have used some more solos from Derek, but he was generously sharing the spotlight with the whole band, there sas Kofi on the keys, his brother Oteil on the bass, Mike got to sing one song and helped out on most of the others (Go Mike!), and the horn section had a few goes at the spotlight too... Susan's voice as usual went straight to the heart, and she was wailing on her guitar at one point, would have loved to hear more of that. I guess they played for close to three hours, leaving the audience happy. Like I mentioned, a few more Derek solos (maybe less of the Sly Stone/soul covers) would have been fine with me! All in all, a great night - catch them if you can
Antonia Juhasz is returning from a nationwide tour (and a trip to the BP shareholder meeting in London) to Moe's in Berkeley on Wed. 11 to share her captivating new book on the human stories behind the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf.
What a great time had by all. Congrats to the winning bands, Animolia, Ten Days New, Groovy Judy, and 1st place Cast Iron Crow. The 12 bands rock the stage at Chabot College. The winners of last years show Devil's Angels perform the closing songs for the show. This young band wrote and dedicated a song to Late Phil Kennemore of Y & T. At this show we had a very special guest John Nymann, guitar player from Y & T. John, come out on the stage to hand the First Place Band a beautiful hand made Bisceglia Guitar. It was a very magical night.
Congrates again to the bands... A special thank you to all the sponsors who make the show possible by providing the prizes for the bands. ABC Music, ABC Music Source, Aantone's Music, Annex Studios, Bisceglia Guitars, Blue Sky Studios, Eldridge Photography, Hayward Music Center, Jim's Music, Ovation Guitars, Kaman, Leo's Prof. Audio, Sabian, and Songwriters Studio.
The 'box' is what participated artists start with. It's always fun to see how they've been transformed in 100 different ways! A great place to catch an inexpensive art piece by emerging and established local artists...
Robert Fisk in brilliant although, I felt they should have let him just lecture instead of being moderated by the UCB professor.Very honest journalism and for a food cause, MIddle East Childrens Alliance. He portrays Israel for what it is, a thief and human rights abuser and murderer
Real cool place to kick it every 3rd Sunday of the month.
Blind Duck is a great group. Good vocals, guitar, mandolin, concertina, whistle, fiddle and some guy on hand drums and bones. They do some terrific traditional Irish music along with some old time music from England, Scotland and even obscure folk tunes like "Ladies go a Thieving".
