Re: “America's Only Japanese Beer Shop Opens in Oakland

And this article mentions nothing about her selection of Lunch Pack. How many varieties?

Re: “The Vegan New Wave

I love visiting Republic of V and stocking up (esp. on Miyoko's cheese and vegan fish sauce) on our way home from San Fransisco back to Sacramento. Happy to see the coverage! This goes to show vegan is becoming more mainstream.

Don't forget to check out Baagan in San Ramon if you're looking for some delicious vegan food.

Re: “The Vegan New Wave

Yes! Just one more reason to love Oakland. A vegan diet is about compassion and justice for animals and for the planet. A movement that feels right at home in Oakland 😊

Re: “A Guide to East Bay Amateur Sports Leagues

I'm pretty sad that the Bay Area Derby Girls (www.bayareaderbygirls.com) were missed in this round up.

Re: “Ten Quintessential Oakland Restaurants

These all seem like great places to eat- I for one appreciate the inclusion of an Indian restaurant on 79th and E.14th... not exactly the middle of nowhere- but I digress- I would not have gathered an Indian restaurant there neither ;). I do however must remind you folks that there WAS (gasp) an Oakland before 1999 and there are many places that would fight a for a spot on a list of quintessential Oakland restaurants and dives that are nary mentioned here. Good eats tho !

Re: “Ten Quintessential Oakland Restaurants

I'd also add 10th and Wood which might even have a better fried chicken sandwich than Bakesale Betty, not to mention the remarkable pulled pork

Re: “Take a Tour of Oakland's Most Impressive Murals

The Wrist Ship Supply Mural (16th and Peralta by Vogue and Bam) and the White Elephant Mural (333 Lancaster) were both coordinated and produced in association with Fuming Guerilla Productions.

Stop by Oakland's own Cat Town Cafe to see a wonderful indoor mural that is iconic and Oaklandish! Check our Fuming Guerilla Productions website to view some more of our work around Oakland.

Re: “Ten Quintessential Oakland Restaurants

I would also add Venga Paella (229 Brush St) in Jack London. Even though they have only been open for just over a year...they feel like home.
They have great paella and a relaxing vibe. I never feel rushed to have to leave and they make the extra effort to know who you are and feel part of the experience. Definitely a local gem in my book.

Re: “Take a Tour of Oakland's Most Impressive Murals

You could also check out (and add to) this immense list of murals on OaklandWiki: https://localwiki.org/oakland/Murals. There are over 500 murals on here, all collected by members of the community.

The majority of them are mapped- click the map, a neighborhood, and go!
