How about annual membership fee. Or monthly. Or daypass.
I can't wait.. sounds like good times
Good luck to The New Parkway! Thanks for making it happen, Moses, and getting the community behind you on this!
Correction: movies are free, yummy food is not.
I don' t think it has much chance to succeed.

The Sunday viewing was kept lowkey following the massive turnout on opening night, but you can still see it the last two Sundays in September (noon-6 p.m). It's located at 1350 Fourth St., Berkeley. Someone will let you in through the gate.
Is this still going on? Your article says it is on Sundays, but Endless Canvas says not open to the public -- which is it?
Love it!! I'm so excited!
This was one of the most amazing, authentic experiences around art, youth and community I have witnessed in recent memory. Thousands gathered to view this space and its jawdroppingly fabulous graffiti for free, with music, beer and wine, and an electric atmosphere that should make world cultural hubs like London, Berlin and Venice blush.
A few thousand mostly young folks pullulated in the once abandoned rusty, peeling trilevel concrete and steel building that seemed happy to be a host for all this activity. The people were happy together, drowning in art in 3D, dancing, flirting, posing, snap-shooting and juggling, all of them self-regulated, well-behaved and paying close attention to what they saw.
The floor, the walls, and ceiling and all kinds of nooks and crannies were painted. Many works displayed wit, wildness and undeniable artistry. At several points, the building trembled as the trains, often themselves adorned by the same art work now housed now inside the building, roared by.
The project as a whole shows mindful foresight and planning that is rare indeed. The police and the city govt. clearly had a welcome role in facilitating this art event by keeping a very low profile and just letting folks do their stuff. And to my understanding, this was no LA style Eli Lilly funded, rarified and ultimately impotent extravaganza, but a grassroots, collaborative, kickstarter and Bay area funded. If so, we should thank everyone that helped artwork blossom before our eyes in their natural habitat in this fresh, free and provocative way.

A friend of mine who died last year in her nineties, used to get dragged to Idora Park by her parents. She claims it was a really boring place for kids and an excuse for their parents to schmooze (and I assume booze).
She much preferred the Fox.
Question: is the windmill next door to Steele's on Telegraph a remnant of Idora? Was the miniature golf range that closed about 20 years ago on Telegraph a vestige?
It doesn't get mentioned in this article, but Laura decided to put her career on hold to be the stay-at-home parent for Simon. Through her tireless dedication and hard work, she has been 90% responsible for getting him to this stable, relatively healthy place he his today. I work for Animal Place, a nonprofit sanctuary specializing in the rescue of abused farmed animals, including chickens. We operate Rescue Ranch that saves the lives of thousands of hens from the egg industry each year. We have two facilities - Vacaville and Grass Valley.
We currently have more than 1,600 hens available for adoption who were saved from starvation by a California egg farmer. Those interested in adoption can find out more here: http://animalplace.org/adoptable_birds.htm….
I think it is important to remember that the backyard chicken movement has a dark side to it.
Rooster Chicks: Male chicks are killed or used as "packing peanuts" by the hatcheries supplying backyard chicks.
Parent Birds: They are housed inside sheds. They never see the light of day. At the young age of 18-mos-old, they are slaughtered.
Transport: Day-old chicks are shipped through the postal service with no legal oversight and often in any climate conditions, resulting in the unnecessary death of sensitive baby animals (who are never raised by their own mothers, either).
Chickens are intelligent, social animals. They can be wonderful backyard companions. Adopt, don't buy.
For those who arrange weekend marathons to watch all of Star Wars, the Godfather, Dexter, or The Wire, five and half hours is nothing. The fifteen-hour production (over four nights) of Wagner's Ring Cycle was an unforgettable event in my life. Some things can be so worth the time, so there's no way I'm missing Gance's Napoleon! Thanks for the alert, Ms. Harwood!
