Re: “Cock-A-Doodle Cafe

GREAT CUBAN FOOD...RIGHT HERE IN OAKLAND!!! FInally, my prayers have been answered. A friend told me about this place, so I decided to check it out. I showed up almost at closing time and to my surprise, I was greeted warmly by Sandra and Fermin, She runs the restaurant, he cooks heavenly authentic Cuban food. And I do mean authentic. I was born in Cuba, so I know what I'm talking about. Were it not for the fact that it would have been very unseemly I would have licked the plate clean when I finished my lechon asado. We're talking lechon the way my grandmother and mother did it. Dios mio, it was good. And the tostones....ahh, I could have eaten 3 more plates of them. Sheer pefection, with a little mojo sprinkled on top! They're open for dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I can't wait to go back again and introduce my friends to this little slice of Cuban heaven in the East Bay!

Re: “1:AM Gallery

5 Stars because it is great for the street art aficionado and the street artists! Not only does the gallery display and sell some of the works of the up and coming street artists, they also sell materials for your bombing pleasure, from fat caps to your fave krink colors, they have the works. As if that isn't enough, if you are a graff buff but not so hot at hittin the streets, they supply the knowledge for a small price. And by they, I mean Nate1 and Novy. On top of alllll that, you can even get the crew at 1AM to hit up your not so cultured walls! So much more than just a gallery.........

Re: “PIQ

This place is just like the cafes in Florence. The food is superb! The coffee is fantastic! And I'm not even a coffee drinker. I'm totally hooked.

Re: “Trove

This place has it all modern, vintage, local, ethnic, and below retail. If you want to add some accessories to your home or furnish a new home they are good for both. They can discount products lower because its like T.J. Max and Ross with clothes but its all kinds of stuff for your home. You have to visit if your any where near Berkeley, CA.

Re: “Humphrey's on the Delta

“The best food, best service and great view.” — The best food, best service and great view. Now with original ownership after a few years we will get to see great service. Back to the good al days. You can have a beautiful Wedding at Humphrey's On The Delta with three lovely wedding sites to choose from. Humphrey's will provide personal assistance from beginning to the end of your special occasion. Splurging at top-rated restaurant is fun for special events, but where can you go for a good quality meal that won't break the bank?

Re: “Alameda Point Antiques Faire

This is so huge, you can't believe it! I don't think I've ever finished it due to its size and the number of vendors. There are probably over 1000, to be honest. And each one is very unique. You'll see everything from vintage clothing to tools, furniture jewelry, plants, European items, Asian items, Native American, Africa, textiles and beads from Eastern parts of the world, and so on. It's a tremendous place to shop. Just bring your walking shoes for sure. The one drawback is lack of seating for when you finally take a snack/lunch break! I suppose if I went before 9 a.m. when the entrance price is higher than $5, I'd see the whole thing, but my feet still wouldn't survive! It's still worth going to. Store up your money and have some fun. There's an ATM just outside the entrance gate too. Some vendors take credit cards. I typically pay with cash. Getting in on a nice sunny morning is a chore due to the traffic. Same thing for when you leave. It'll take what seems to be a lifetime just getting onto Webster Street in Alameda so you can get back onto 880 and head home. By then you're totally pooped! But you'll have so many neat goodies to enjoy once you get there!

Re: “Cinnaholic

When I first passed this place I was drawn inside by an overwhelming fragrance of cinnamon. I was able to create my own cinnamon roll with decadent caramel frosting and then topped with chocolate chips and cookie dough... Wonderfully "CINNFULL"! I go back all the time now. You should go!

B restaurant a gem in Old Oakland. I went with a few friends and we ordered a bunch of things to share. The food is quite amazing, the focaccia and truffle fries are a must as a starter and their pizza's are perfect. I had the yummy pork chop on the menu and it was delicious! I enjoyed a couple specialty cocktails that were fresh and tasty, the one that comes to mind is the Love on which was fruity and fabulous without being too sweet, it had a perfect balance of flavors. The space itself feels comfortable yet refined, it has an open feel with large windows looking out to charming Old Oakland. I'm absolutely looking forward to coming back again and again!
